Activity data such as electricity consumption is not consistently collected or made available across the different states and territories. For some sectors such as residential electricity, data is available at postcode or municipality level in some states and only at the state level in others.
This means that different states have different types of data available. In turn, different data sets require different methods to convert the raw activity data to local scale emissions. This results in a different approach being employed for different states. The Snapshot Methodology 2022 which can be downloaded from the Resources page details in full the differences in data sets and methods for each region.
